October 2015 Dear Xavierites, I hope you are on track for a successful Fall 2015 semester. As indicated before, I would periodically send you our Student Newsletter to inform you of federal and institutional financial aid updates. I’m excited to send this newsletter to inform you about a New Outreach Program that my office has initiated-TOWN HALL MEETINGS! This outreach will allow me, the Financial Aid Director, to communicate vital information to students. Most importantly, it will provide you an opportunity to share any challenges, concerns or questions you may have in regards to your financial aid experience. Our goal is to receive feedback from you which will empower us to serve you better and be more effective with the hopes of making our students’ financial aid process easier. Please read the details below and remember to read the entire newsletter as it details important information which will make your financial aid experience a successful one. Ms. E. Financial Aid Awards Offered Have you been awarded federal grant and/or federal loans or work-study)? Did you Accept or Decline the award? Do you need money to assist with your assessment fee bill? Students should check their Banner Web to see if there are financial aid awards that have not been accepted. If so, accept the award on Banner Web and read all details. Also, if you do not want the financial aid that has been awarded, you should decline it. **Note: If you were offered a Parent Plus loan, the Department of Education requires the parent to complete a credit check for approval to receive the awarded amount. However, if the credit check is denied, the parent should read the details regarding obtaining a co-endorser. If the parent and co-endorser are not approved, the student may inquire about additional funding, which will be less than the PLUS offer amount, through the Federal Direct Unsubsidized Program by submitting a Non Co-Endorser Form to the Office of Financial Aid. Click the following link: Non Co-Endorser Form . For more details, please contact your financial aid counselor. Students are paid once a month on the 15th of the following month, i.e. all hours earned in October 2015 will be paid on November 13, 2015. Students are required to submit WTE timecards on Banner Web no later than 5:00p.m. on the 2nd of every month for Payroll processing. This is a permanent deadline date that does not change---regardless if the 2nd falls on a weekend/holiday. Students are encouraged to "Submit for Approval" WTE timecards before the deadline date. The We Care Financial Literacy Program facilitated personal finance empowerment workshops on Basic Banking, Savings/Investing, Using Credit Cards Wisely and Understanding our Credit Score to the XU Men’s Basketball Team-Our Champions! Thanks to Coach Jackson, Coach Mitchell & XU BB Team! Example: Hours earned in the month of August 1 through August 31, 2015 must be submitted via Banner Web no later than September 2, 2015 at 5:00p.m. To allow for sufficient review of student timecards, students are encouraged to “Preview” timecards daily for missed punches/errors and resolve early with Supervisors. Resolving errors early will avoid timecard “lock out” when submitting timecards at the end of the month. Students are eligible and encouraged to submit timecards for payroll processing before the deadline date. For instance, students may submit timecards immediately after clocking-out on the last day of the month. Graduating 2015-2016 ?
