Work
This study provides a unique opportunity to combine fieldwork and laboratory work to study metapopulation dynamics of tigers in the Terai Arc landscape, India. The candidate is required to learn from both field as well as lab techniques to understand social dynamics of solitary large carnivores in the Terai region.
The student is expected to spend 60% of the time in the lab to conduct the molecular work and data analysis, with about 40% of the time in the field to collect samples and associated data.

Biodiversity Conservation and Rural Livelihood Improvement (BCRLIP) – Bird
Component.

Candidates with prior experience of working on birds, or have carried out field surveys involving population estimation and or ecological studies on other wildlife species.
This study will involve carrying out field surveys for galliform birds in the Pithoragarh district, Uttarakhand. Galliform birds will be used as indicators to assess habitat quality in the region. The project assistant is expected to be highly motivated and have the ability to work in harsh environments that will involve extensive trekking to different sites in mountainous terrain.
Tiger Reintroduction and Recovery Programme in Panna Tiger Reserve and the
Landscape Complex, Madhya Pradesh: Phase II

The aim of this study is to gain insights into the underlying mechanisms driving home site selection by wolves during the breeding period and to examine individual variation in howl acoustic structure to identify individual wolves.
Studying the dispersal of Tigers across the eastern Vidarbha Landscape (EVL)

Subsequently his/her tenure may be extended depending upon the exigencies of work at sole discretion of the Institute and satisfactory performance of the candidate.

Candidate(s) may be allowed hostel accommodation at the institute, as per availability. Where the hostel accommodation is not possible, house rent allowance (HRA) will be paid as per the rules of the
Institute. Other allowances and benefits to the research personnel would be admissible as per the rules.
7.
The selection of the candidate(s) will be based on the interview to be held on Monday, 24 th
August
2015 at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehra Dun. The registrations of the candidates for the advertised positions will be done from 09:00 to 10:00hrs on 24 th
August 2015 at WII . Late entrants after the stipulated time as mentioned above for registration will not be entertained, in any case.
