Over the last three decades, Ethernet has
grown beyond a Local Area Networking
(LAN) technology to become the infrastructure backbone for applications such as
802.11 wireless networking, Voice over IP
(VoIP), Unified Communications (UC),
IP surveillance, IP Television, and many
more. However, delivery of these new and
exciting applications is constrained by the
limitations imposed by traditional copperbased networks—Ethernet requires CAT5
or higher-grade cabling, reach is limited to
100 meters (365 feet) and existing solutions
designed to deliver Ethernet over CAT3 are
limited to 10 Mbps throughput.

10/100 Mbps Ethernet
connectivity utilizing 4-pair, 2-pair,
or even a single twisted-pair of
CAT5, CAT3, or even legacy
voice-grade copper.
l Deploy
VoIP over voice grade wiring:
ActivReach eliminates the need for additional
cabling and supports VoIP and hosted voice
services over CAT3 or even legacy voice-grade
copper. Voice and data traffic is separate
guaranteeing voice quality and minimizing
impact on data network.
n Extends
Ethernet reach up to
488 meters (1,600 feet) from the
switch without the use of fiber,
repeaters, or multiple switches.
l Connect
extended reach endpoints in
warehouses and high-rise offices: Connect
endpoints such as IP security cameras and
wireless Access Points (APs) at distances up to
488 meters (1,600 ft.) from the switch, avoiding
the need for costly fiber, repeaters or additional
switch infrastructure.
