Re:
System-wide Wellness Incentive for Covered Employees & Spouses
Preventive health care services are a covered benefit through the A&M Care health care plan.
However, for preventive services to be effective, they must be accessed. The A&M System is
implementing an incentive program that encourages employees and covered spouses to be
engaged with a health care provider in receiving preventive services. All covered employees
and their covered spouses will be encouraged to have a physical or routine wellness exam
between January 1, 2013 and June 30, 2014. Beginning September 2014, there will be a $30
monthly wellness differential for the covered employee and their covered spouse (up to $60.00)
if they have not the met the incentive.
Our Human Resources staff would like all faculty and staff to be aware of the A&M Employer
Specific Incentive so that they may have time to meet the incentive date. For additional
information on the wellness incentive or benefits, please contact Patricia Hinojosa, Benefits
Specialist at pvhinojosa@pvamu.edu or Human Resources Office at 936-261-1730.
Please post a copy of the attached flyer and distribute copies as you deem
appropriate.

Have you had an Annual Wellness Exam? Did you know it will affect your medical
insurance premiums for FY 15, if you don’t have one?
Our employees’ health and wellbeing is important us! As such, the Texas A&M University
System has implemented a Wellness Initiative to ensure employee health and wellbeing is a top priority! One very important part of the initiative could impact your life
and your paycheck.
All employees and their spouses enrolled in Blue Cross Blue Shield medical plan will be
encouraged to have a wellness exam between January 1, 2013 and the deadline date
of June 30, 2014.
Things to know about your Annual Wellness Exam incentive:
-
There is no co-pay for an annual well-woman exam or annual physical.
-
If you had an annual exam anytime in 2013 your requirement has been met for
this year.
-
To verify that you have met your requirement, enroll in the Blue Cross Blue Shield
web tool, “Blue Access for Members” to check your status:
https://members.hcsc.net/wps/portal/bam
-
The incentive is not mandatory BUT if you choose not to participate in the
initiative your insurance premiums for you and your covered spouse will be
impacted. Beginning September 2014, your premium will increase by $30.00 for
each of you. This this could reduce your paycheck by as much as $60.00!
The initiative aims to encourage each covered employee (and spouse) to build a
relationship with a physician. Statistics show that prevention is the key to many chronic
conditions. Your health care provider can offer advice and guidance on how to “get
back on track” with weight loss, manage borderline diabetes, pre- hypertension, or
prevent the onset of cardio vascular disease and many other illnesses.
We strive to make 2014 a year filled with good health and wellness for our employees
and their families! If you have questions regarding the incentive, contact Patricia
Hinojosa at pvhinojosa@pvamu.edu or by phone 936-261-1727 or
