Dean’s Council Wednesday, November 28, 2012 8:30am - 10:00am Office of Instruction Conference Room Notes Present: Utpal Goswami, Rachel Anderson, Jeff Cummings, Anita Janis, Crislyn Parker-notes 1. Re-organization: Council discussed possible areas of need and options for getting the work done, during transition in spring 2013 and upon final reorganization. Some suggestions included: o Define roles of administrators and supervisors o Define relationship to the Mendocino office manager, and plan for more engagement o Academic Affairs and CTE Deans work together to define lines of responsibility o Changes in support staff roles need to be clarified o Agreed to include Keith in future Dean’s Council meetings Anita will get a Director’s job description, which will help in defining roles Del Norte is losing a full-time office manager position, has no AOA, and has one enrollment /financial aid support person. Del Norte will need some kind of support position. Discussion included site faculty connection to area coordinators and department/discipline faculty at Eureka. With the exception of the Fine Woodworking Program (sort of a standalone program) in Mendocino, these connections are fairly well established. Some discussions on how department/discipline/program budgets could be more efficiently structured led to agreement to define responsibilities first (Deans and Directors), and then align the budget to fit. One suggestion included centralizing orders, at least in areas that allow the college to take advantage of bulk pricing. Certain supplies are required for two or three campuses and could be ordered together and disbursed. Other discussion included where KT stands in trying to become an affiliate of the North West Native American College. Anita feels this will take time. Del Norte is sitting at 516 FTES and needs 500. Anita feels it would not be good to lose KT FTES at this time. Currently, KT seems to be a wash financially. There was some discussion on possible programs that Del Norte can offer to increase FTES. Anita is working on them. 2. Spring 2013 Enrollments: Still too early to determine. This will be added to the December 12 Dean’s Council meeting. Adjourn Presenter: 4115746
