For degree-applicable courses, include objectives in the area of “critical thinking.” Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: The student will be able to identify particular art styles, techniques and forms distinct to specific cultural and geographic regions, understand basic stylistic and iconographic methods of interpretation, understand historical change in tribal arts usually perceived as of “static.” He/she will also have an increased awareness of certain stereotypes of non-Western arts and cultures and how indigenous artists have actively responded to particular historical circumstances. 2.
