Deans would request position: possible criteriaa) The discipline has a large number of associates b) Has multiple courses with only associates teaching them, and/or c) Multiple courses with over 5 different instructors teaching the same course. d) Faculty selection is made by the dean. 2. Mentor new associates: be available to new associates to discuss/share curriculum, syllabus construction, teaching methods, and answer content related questions. Check in with associates prior to the start of the semester, in the middle of the semester, and near the end of the semester. 3. Works with the dean to ensure faculty in the area have determined their assessment tool/process for the assessment planned during the semester, and that all courses in the discipline have current two year plans. 2. Calendar on inside.redwoods including the above and other meetings could be added by dean, directors, and their admin support Faculty Handbook Suggestions/Ideas: 1. Create an all-college handbook: Section includes policies that apply to all include section with faculty only information 2. Online only 3. Remove physical policies and include web address and links directly to the policy 4. Include links to and web address to forms 5. Include links, web addresses to any/all helpful web information 6. Include / Work with Deans, Senate? 7. Include an easy quick-print of phone numbers and positions? Rational: Handbook is too large and “wordy.” Many do not utilize it because of this. A printed version may be supplied to new hires, but after that they should refer to the website and print on their own, if needed
