Dr. Emma Joahanne Thomas-Smith has served
Prairie View A&M University and higher
education for over thirty years as a teacher,
mentor, administrator, and supporter.
While at Prairie View, Dr. Thomas-Smith has
served in many capacities, most notably
Director of the Honors Program, head of the
Department of English and Other Languages,
Associate Provost and Director of Title III and
Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs.
In her career at Prairie View, Dr. Thomas-Smith
has been actively involved in the accreditation
processes, long-range planning and master plan
development. Because of her experience, she
has been a consultant to many independent
school districts and universities.
