Institutional Effectiveness Achievement Report Business Communication and Entrepreneurship: BBA Entrepreneurship 2014­2015 Institutional Effectiveness Achievements Report Unit Head: Stephen Lewis Reports to: College of Business Mission: The mission of the Department of Business Communication and Entrepreneurship is to educate students through a blend of cultural knowledge, economic literacy, communication skills, basic­business roles as consumers, workers, entrepreneurs, and citizens. Use of Prior Results : A change was made in assessment to switch to a more comprehensive rubric approved by both the department and the EXL program. Student Learning Outcome: Students will display a skill set appropriate for starting a new venture. Measure 1: Seventy percent of students completing BCEN 4620, Business Plan Development, will present and defend a satisfactory business plan as evaluated by the course instructor and a panel of business executives using a departmentally approved rubric. Supporting Document(s): (include strengths & weaknesses): Eighty­seven percent of students completing BCEN 4620, Business Plan Development, presented and defended satisfactory business plans in Fall 2014 as defined by performance of 80% or higher on standards set forth by departmentally approved rubrics. This will allow for cohesive planning between management and entrepreneurship internships.
