University Enrichment Committee Minutes September 17, 1999 David Tinsley was elected Chair and David Smith secretary. Committee members were selected for the Travel and Research subcommittees. Possible agenda items for the year were reviewed by John Finney and David Tinsley. Finney suggested that the committee review the Pedagogy travel grant program that was originally created on a trial basis. He also reported that a faculty member had suggested that the Committee explore possible options for funding international travel. Finney went on to suggest that the Committee consider adjusting upward the maximum amount of student research grants. Finney reminded us that the Committee last year voted to raise the daily allocation for food and lodging in travel grants from $90 to $110. He said that doing this cost $7000, $4000 of which were provided by the Budget Task Force and $3000 by the Committee from the second trip pool. Finney reviewed the status of research and travel grants for the last few years and noted that only a few reports are outstanding. Finney reminded the Committee that the Geoffrey Block is the Regester Lecturer on November th 17 . Respectfully submitted, David Smith UEC Secretary
