ENGLISH COURSE DESCRIPTION
ARABIC COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course examines the nature of information
services offered by information institutions at
various settings. It focuses on the recent trends
of designing and providing reference and
information services to users with particular
emphasis to mobile information technology.
The course also highlights some aspects of the
philosophy of administering, marketing,
promoting, and evaluating library services.
Information literacy skills and the impact of
information and communication technology on
the reference work will also be emphasized.

The course aim to highlight the importance of adoption of flexible and relevant
information services by libraries and information centres
4. COURSE OBJECTIVES
1- Know the basic concepts related to current information services
2- Know different types of information services and ways of organizing and
delivering them through libraries and information centres
3- Know the impact of technology in changing the libraries ways in dealing with
traditional works and management of information centres
4- Know the role of mobile technology and its impact on the way of providing
information services
5- Know ways and methods of providing information services in libraries
6- Know the importance of strategic planning of information services

Attendance
Attendance at class is mandatory. Course Instructors should keep attendance records. An
"absentee warning notice" will be issued if a student is absent for:
• More than 10% in courses with less than 75 total contact hours.
• More than 5% in courses with 75 or more total contact hours.
An "absentee withdrawal notice" will be issued and the student will be deemed to have
withdrawn from the course with an 'FW' grade if a student is absent for:
• More than 20% in courses with less than 75 total contact hours.
• More than 15% in courses with 75 to 150 total contact hours.
• More than 10% of total contact hours for courses with more than 150 total
contact hours.
