Meeting called to order at 3:45 p.m. by Chair, Ronna Vanderslice
Director of Teacher Education Report
A. Item review – February 7-8 for Ag Ed, English, US and OK History,
Gov’t/Econ
B. Current reports on Teacher Preparation—Cracks in the Ivory Tower and
Blue Ribbon Panel Report
Dr. Barresi will be focusing on standards and accountability to increase the
rigor in schools. The Blue Ribbon report looks at the medical school model
with field experiences driving instruction.
C. Students can now access score reports online if they registered for tests
after November 9th or took the test after December 2010.
D. OGET practice exam is available online at
http://www.ceoe.nesinc.com/CE_practicetest.asp
Last month’s meeting minutes were approved with one spelling change.
Admission and Retention Committee Report
The committee moved to accept eighteen candidates from Lawton and three candidates
from Claremore for full admission to teacher education; two candidates from Lawton for
conditional admission to teacher education due to completion of a lesson plan; two
candidates from Lawton for conditional admission to teacher education due to receipt
of a third recommendation; one candidate from Claremore for conditional admission to
teacher education due to completion of EDUC 1800 and a lesson plan; and to deny
admission to one candidate from Lawton due to a score below passing on one faculty
recommendation.
Eighteen candidates from Lawton should be admitted fully.
Three candidates from Claremore should be admitted fully.
Two candidates from Lawton should be admitted conditionally and must receive a score
of 3 or better on a lesson plan at the end of the spring semester.
Two candidates from Lawton should be admitted conditionally and must receive scores
of 3 or better on their last recommendation before the beginning of the spring semester.
One candidate from Claremore should be admitted conditionally and must receive a
grade of S on EDUC 1800 at the beginning of the spring semester and a score of 3 or
better on a lesson plan at the end of the spring semester.
One candidate from Lawton should be denied admission.
The motion was approved.

New Business
1. Student appeal for admission
A student from RSU appealed her denial of admission to teacher
education due to the requirement of MATH 1513 or higher. Gabriela
Adam-Rodwell made a motion that due to an advising error, and her
strong math scores on the OGET, the student be admitted to teacher
education with conditions pending the completion of the required
math class with a grade of C or better while concurrently enrolled in
Math Methods in spring 2011. The motion was seconded by Joel
Dering and approved.
