Minutes

1. Approval of minutes. William Carney moved to approve the minutes from March 7, 2013;
Dennis Frisby seconded. The motion carried.
2. Program and course modifications
A. School of Business
I.
Course modification requests were received for BUS 4632 and MGMT 3013. Ken
Masters moved to recommend approval; Aubree Walton seconded. The motion
carried.
B. School of Education and Behavioral Sciences
I.
Health and Physical Education
a. Course modification requests were received for HPET 3353 and 3363. Lynda
Robinson moved to recommend approval; Ken Masters seconded. The motion
carried.
II.
Psychology
a. Course modification requests were received for PSY 4433. William Carney
moved to recommend approval; Lynda Robinson seconded. The motion carried.
III.
Education
a. The Education Department submitted a proposal for the addition of a minor in
Special Education. Linda Wright-Smith moved to recommend approval;
Deborah Hall seconded. The motion carried.
C. School of Liberal Arts
I.
Communication
a. The Communication Department requested course deletions for COMM 2533
and 3103; course additions for COMM 3423, 4523, PBRL 3323, JRMP 1113,
1213, 2513, 2623, 3613, 3633, 4433; and course modifications for COMM 2593,
3113, 3383, 3713, PBRL 3113, JOUR 3343, 4803, 4813, 4133, 3013, 3043, RTV
2113, 2213, 2313, 3123, 3353, 3413, 3513, 3911-2, 3931-5, 4133, 4333, 4343,
4923, 4941-3. Dennis Frisby moved to recommend approval; William Carney
seconded. The motion carried.
b. The committee received a request for a modification to the Communication
program. Linda Wright-Smith moved to recommend approval; Dennis Frisby
seconded. The motion carried.
II.
c. The Communication department requested the addition of a new program
called Journalism and Media Production. William Carney moved to recommend
approval; Linda Wright-Smith seconded. The motion carried.
History and Political Science
a. A course modification was requested for PS 2113. Ken Masters moved to
recommend approval; Deborah Hall seconded. The motion carried.
D. School of Science and Technology
I.
Mathematical Sciences
a. A course modification request was received for STAT 3013. Linda Wright-Smith
moved to recommend approval; Deborah Hall seconded. The motion carried.
E. Adult and Continuing Education
I.
The committee received a request to delete the program option in PreBaccalaureate Nursing. Dennis Frisby moved to recommend approval; Linda
Wright-Smith seconded. The motion carried.
F. General Education Committee
I.
The committee received a proposal for changes to the General Education
Requirements. Ken Masters moved to recommend approval; Lynda Robinson
seconded. The motion carried.
3. Other – Mandy Husak asked the committee to provide feedback on the new course modification
forms. The next meeting was scheduled for May 2, 2013, at 3:30 p.m.
