Brad Henry International Scholars Program Swansea University Wales The Scholarship: • The Brad Henry International Scholars program provides a few outstanding students at Oklahoma Regional Universities a $10,000 scholarship to study abroad in Wales. The Scholarship: • The application deadline for the study abroad will be March 9, 2012. • You can begin to prepare an application at any time. Semester Study Abroad Program Participants will spend either the fall or spring academic term, the dates of which approximately coincide with our fall and spring academic semesters, as students at Swansea University on its campus in Swansea, Wales. Field of study is open. In the Middle of Swansea University Swansea University University of Wales at Swansea • Semester program, wide range of offerings. • 250 or so American exchange students. • University of about 11,000: 3,000 graduate students and 9,000 undergrads. • Commitment to working with American exchanges. National Assembly for Wales • High order internship with Member of the Assembly. • Assembly is historically placed in International Relations. • Ties to constituents in Wales, to Parliament, and to the EC in Brussels. • Interns from Ohio and Oklahoma living in apartments near Assembly. Brandon Eligibility • Full-time enrollment at an Oklahoma regional university • Oklahoma residency and U.S. Citizenship • At least 30 hours of completed college course work • Excellent academic qualifications • Outstanding writing and communication skills • Demonstrated leadership qualities Process for 2012-2013 • Complete application by March 9 to office of Dr. Vivian Thomlinson. • The application calls for a resume, transcript of all college or university work, a typewritten essay of approximately 300 words which sets forth your academic and/or professional goals and shows how your experience as an International Scholar will advance those goals, and two letters of recommendation. • Review by committee. President’s Office can nominate a maximum of 2 applicants. • Selection by OSHRE.
