Lawton couple gives to CU Student
Activities Complex
Cameron University President Cindy Ross has accepted a $5,000 gift from Retired Major General and Mrs.
Toney Stricklin toward construction of the new Centennial Student Activities Complex as part of the
Cameron University: Changing Lives campaign.
“Cameron University has played a significant role in enriching my life and the lives of many other Fort Sill
soldiers and their families. Cameron helped change my life before there was a Changing Lives campaign,
and we are proud to offer our support to the campaign to help Cameron continue changing lives for
decades to come,” Stricklin said.
Stricklin is a proud supporter and alumnus of Cameron having earned a bachelor’s degree in business
administration from CU. He currently serves on the CU Foundation Board of Directors. Other honors he
has received at Cameron include the Distinguished Alumni Award, Distinguished Service Award,
Distinguished Alumnus of the School of Business and honorary induction into the Cameron University
Chapter of Delta Mu Delta. He is also a Cameron University President’s Partner.
“Toney Stricklin is an extraordinary asset to Cameron and the Lawton-Fort Sill community,” CU President
Cindy Ross said. “We are proud to count him as an alumnus and grateful for his continued support and
leadership in helping prepare Cameron for its second century of changing lives through education.”

Stricklin, ADD ONE
Stricklin has strong ties to the Lawton-Fort Sill community. He came to Fort Sill in 1969 for Officer
Candidate School, returned for the Field Artillery Officer Advanced Course in 1975, and was stationed at
Fort Sill when he completed his bachelor’s degree in business administration at Cameron in the fall of
1975. In August of 1999, he assumed the position of Commanding General, United States Army Field
Artillery Center and School at Fort Sill and retired from active service in 2001. Stricklin is vice president of
government relations for Stanley Associates, Inc. of Arlington, Va. Stanley has a significant presence in
Lawton.
The Centennial Student Activities Complex, to be located in the heart of campus, will provide a modern
location for students to study, dine, interact and relax. The complex will feature a student union, student
activities areas, meeting rooms, an art gallery, dining areas and community spaces for students to make
lasting memories.
The complex will not only serve Cameron students but will also serve the community for a variety of
functions. The second floor of the state-of-the-art complex will house a ballroom with seating for 400
connected to a balcony that will overlook the Bentley Gardens, another campaign initiative. This area will
be well suited for hosting high school proms, weddings and other community events.
More than $9.8 million have been contributed or pledged to Cameron’s Changing Lives campaign and Dig
Deeper Challenge which raised the campaign goal to $10 million.
