Movie by Cameron professor in film festival
“Banished Misfortune,” a short narrative by Cameron University Associate Professor of Communication
Matt Jenkins, E.D., has been accepted into the 2007 Trail Dance Film Festival.
The satirical movie revolves around an ancient prophecy warning to beware of the cow, a militant
vegetarian, and mad cow disease.
Included among the movie’s cast members are Lindsay Hunt, morning anchor for KAUZ-TV in Wichita
Falls, Texas; Cynthia Sosa, morning personality on KCCU-FM in Lawton; James Stanley, morning
personality on Lawton’s sports ticket KXCA-AM; and Pat Bishow, founder of the New York City-based
Amusement Films.
The Trail Dance Film Festival is an event started by the Duncan-based Southwest Association of Film
(SWAF). SWAF was started with the following goal: Encourage originality, creativity, and promote the film
industry among Oklahomans and to create scholarship funds for students studying film and/or media arts.
“Banished Misfortune” star Tori Jenkins is nominated for the best Youth Acting Award.
Matt Jenkins’ production credits include “B and Below: We’re Not in Hollywood Anymore,” a documentary
that profiles three low-budget independent movie producers. Videoscope magazine called it “…well-more-

produced… an interesting and entertaining documentary…”
“Banished Misfortune” will screen at 3 p.m. on Friday Jan. 27 at the Simmons Center in Duncan. The
public is invited. There will be a question and answer session following the screening. For more
