Cameron University receives $10,000 from
Kerr Foundation
Cameron University President Cindy Ross recently announced the University has received $10,000 from
the Kerr Foundation to be used for the construction of the CU Student Activities Complex. The University
was awarded the money through a grant by the Kerr Foundation. This is the second contribution by the
foundation to Cameron. In 1999, the organization established the Kerr Foundation Endowed Lectureship in
Physical Science.
“We are grateful to the Kerr Foundation for its support of Cameron University,” said Ross. “With the aid of
private entities such as the Kerr Foundation, the Student Activities Complex will soon be a reality for our
students and Southwest Oklahoma to enjoy.”
The Kerr Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit charitable and educational Oklahoma corporation, established to
identify and support 501(c)3 organizations, programs and institutions that provide new or enhanced
opportunities for those within the granting areas, particularly the young. The granting areas include
education, arts and culture, health, human services and public administration.
“The Kerr Foundation is so proud to partner with Cameron University for such a worthwhile endeavor,” said
Robbie Kerr, President and Chairman of the Board of the Kerr Foundation. “This new complex will
enhance student life for many years to come, and we are thrilled to be a part of it.”

The centerpiece of the Changing Lives campaign, the Student Activities Complex will provide studen5s a
central location to study, dine, interact and relax, while also serving the community. The complex will
house a 400-seat, divisible ballroom well-suited for hosting community events in Southwest Oklahoma.
This donation brings the total raised for construction of the student complex to $5,748,500 or 88.4% of the
$6.5 million goal. Construction on the new facility will begin once all the funds for the complex have been
raised. Un9versity officials hope to begin construction before or during Cameron’s centennial year,
academic year 2008-2009.
