For Immediate Release – Lawton, OK, Aug. 10, 2005 CU’s Southwest AHEC partners with local entities to present forum on upcoming Medicare changes The Cameron University Southwest Area Health Education Center (Southwest AHEC) will team up with Heartland Home Health, Hospice and the Social Security Administration to present a public forum about Medicare Part D, the new drug prescription coverage that is scheduled to take effect January 2006. The forum begins at 4 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 25, in the Shepler Center Wichita Room on CU’s main campus in Lawton. Parking is available both in the North Shepler parking lot and the South Shepler parking lot, located off of F Ave. During the forum, Janice Fritsch from the local Social Security office will present information concerning Medicare Part D and the additional help her office will supply to those who qualify. Individuals who qualify for aid under the Medicare Part D could save thousands of dollars. Fritsch will supply applications and assistance will be available for anyone who wishes to apply that afternoon. Those who attend the forum and wish to apply need to bring proof of income.
