Cameron’s chapter of Phi Upsilon Omicron
inducts new members at annual ceremony
Cameron University’s Gamma Eta chapter of Phi Upsilon Omicron recently inducted Gailia H. Daft of
Fletcher and Krystle Spencer of Lawton. The pair joined the current 14 members of CU’s chapter during a
ceremony and reception hosted by Dr. Rebecca K. Pazoureck, advisor, earlier this month.
Daft and Spencer, both senior human ecology majors, were selected based on their class ranking, their
potential for professional and community leadership, their sprit of service and their character, as well as
personal integrity and professional attitude.
“The new inductees into Phi Upsilon Omicron are not only our top human ecology students academically,
but are ones with the potential to make a difference for the families of today,” Pazoureck said. “Human
ecology is the study of individuals and families and their relationship with their environments. These
students are interested in careers where they can play a role in empowering families.”
Phi Upsilon Omicron is a national honor society concentrating on family and consumer sciences. The
society was founded in 1909 at the University of Minnesota. The name Phi Upsilon Omicron came from the
initial letters of the first, second and last words of the Greek phrase meaning “the light of the home.”

develop qualities of professional and personal leadership to advance human ecology. CU’s Gamma Eta
