For Immediate Release – Lawton, OK, April 6, 2005 CU criminal justice department to host job fair The Cameron University Department of Criminal Justice and Sociology will host a job fair from noon to 4 p.m. on Friday, April 8, in the Shepler Center Mezzanine on the university’s Lawton campus. The job fair will consist of 15-20 employers from the criminal justice field, including the U.S. Secret Service, several regional police departments and representatives of Oklahoma and Texas state correctional systems. Representatives from two law schools will also be on hand. Sponsored by CU Criminal Justice Association, the job fair is free and open to all students, not just criminal justice majors. “This job fair offers a real opportunity for students to gain employment,” said J. Harrison Watts, assistant professor of criminal justice at Cameron. “The employers at this job fair are not just offering information, they are actually looking for people to fill available openings.” Watts suggested that students bring a resume with cover letter and be prepared to be interviewed. He added that most state and federal agencies will have an application for students to complete, as well. Cameron’s criminal justice department boasts one of the largest college enrollments in Oklahoma with nearly 500 students majoring in that field. – 30 – PR#05-092 Editors and Broadcasters: For details, contact CU Government & Community Relations at 580.581.2211.
