Dean Chakrin called the meeting to order at 1:00PM
1.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the September 18 meeting were approved.
2.
INTELLECTUAL CONTRIBUTIONS
Dean Chakrin reported on intellectual contributions since the September 18 Unit Council
meeting.
3.
FACULTY DEVELOPMENT FUNDING APPLICATIONS
Jason Hecht presented his proposal for Faculty Development Funding.
The Unit Council voted to endorse his application.
4.
APPLICATION OF STEPHEN KLEIN FOR PROFESSOR EMERITUS
Cherie Sherman presented her recommendation of Stephen Klein for Professor
Emeritus.
The Unit Council voted to endorse this recommendation.
5.
RESEARCH PLANNNING AND REVIEW COMMITTEE
Dean Chakrin announced that Tammi Redd and Sridevi Shivajaran will be organizing
faculty research seminars.
6.
ARC – T. Rakotobe-Joel
Thierry reminded everyone that syllabi revisions are due by Oct. 15
7.
FAEC – M. Sabrin
Murray reported that the Provost is creating several new task force committees. Faculty
interested in serving on one of these committees should contact their convener.
8.
PANEL ON TEACHING “PERSPECTIVES” LEARNING GOAL – J. Cabrera, G. TorresBaumgarten, H. Li, B. Frech, K. Zeno
The International Business faculty led a discussion on teaching the Perspectives goal.
9.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Susan Eisner announced that the ASB/Faculty Mentoring Program Personnel
Committee Orientation will be held on Wednesday, October 16 from 2:30PM-4PM in
ASB 323.
Ed Petkus reminded the Unit Council that the Bischoff Awards ceremony takes place
today at 3pm in the York Room.
