Announcements

Assessement Reports are due June 1st.

SSAIS Unit Retreat will occur on May 22 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. in the York Room.

Convening Groups need to volunteer for CEC reviews next academic year.

Any library books ordered this academic year would be delayed until July 1st.

The Dean thanked the Creative Writing and Literature Search Committee for their work.

The Dean thanked Tae Kwak for his leadership in the Phi Alpha Theta Conference last
Saturday.

The Dean thanked the Salameno Center for British Studies for their Shakespeare Day
Event yesterday.
SSAIS Student Essay Contest

The following students were presented awards for the contest:
o 1st Place Robin Netanel
o 2nd Place Melissa Pepe
o 3rd Place Jennifer Taryla
Committee Elections

The following faculty members were elected to serve on the following committees:
o Ed Shannon (Second Task Force II)
o Jeremy Teigen (All-College Tenure Committee)
o Ron Hayashida (All-College Sabbatical Committee)
Faculty Executive Committee Report

Jenn Mazza gave a brief report to the unit.
ARC Report

Sam Mustafa gave a brief report to the Unit.
Study Abroad Committee Report

Susan Hangen discussed Study Abroad Programs with the Unit. The Unit submitted
questions and comments to Susan Hangen.
Gekko Committee Report

Monika Giacoppe gave a brief report to the Unit.
SSAIS Unit Resolution

The Unit passed the following resolution:
“Following the presentation of the proposed strategic plan by the Strategic
Planning Task Force, the faculty of SSAIS is opposed to the removal of the
diversity goal from the strategic plan. The inclusion of diversity related
objectives does not compensate for its removal. The Unit resolves that the
Strategic Planning Task Force include diversity as a stated separate goal in the
strategic plan.”

The Unit asked the Dean to forward this resolution to the Strategic Planning Task Force
