DEPARTMENT OF ART AND ART HISTORY SCHOLARSHIPS
The University of Puget Sound is offering several $2,500 scholarships to incoming freshmen or transfer students interested in
pursuing a degree in studio art or art history. The scholarship is renewable for three additional years of full time undergraduate
study, subject to maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0, demonstrating distinct achievement in art studies, and declaring a major
in art. Selection will be made based on the applicant’s potential for academic and artistic success and the merit of any
materials submitted for review. The completed application and letter of recommendation must be received no later than
February 1. Recipients will be notified in March. If you have any questions about this application please contact the

Art History Applicants
In a 500 word essay, describe the role the history of art has played in your life and education. You may comment upon courses
that covered art historical topics, or museum visits, travel, or other activities that put you into contact with the history of art.
Explain how these experiences will impact your career as a student at the University of Puget Sound.
Studio Art Applicants

Submit five images on a CD with your full name written on it. Do not submit more than five images.

File Format: High quality JPEG files only. (Please do not embed images into Power Point.)

Image Size: Minimum 72 ppi resolution, 1500 pixels on the longest side.

File Size: Files must be less than 4 MB each.

File Labeling: Files must be titled with a number indicating the viewing order, followed by the applicant’s
name. The numbers should correspond to image descriptions as listed on the attached image list. For
example: 01_Smith.jpg; 02_Smith.jpg. If using Mac OS 8 or later, be sure to include a .jpg on the end of
each image title.

Image List: One page or less, Word Document, included as a digital file on CD and a hard copy submitted
with this application. On the list please include:
o Applicants name, address, phone, and email address (upper right hand corner)
o Numbered order in which images and/or videos should be viewed
o Title of each work represented, media, and dimensions (H x W x D)
Submit a 200-300 word essay explaining the role that art activities or experiences have played in your life and how
they will impact your future.
