(1) The foreign language graduation requirement should be satisfied early. (2) Students are encouraged to take IPE first-year seminars. (3) IPE “tools” course: CSOC 103, 200, 204 or 230; ECON 170; IPE 201; MATH 160 or 260; PG 102. MATH, PG and CSOC are recommended for semesters 1-2. ECON and IPE are recommended for semesters 2-3 and 4. Take IPE 300 or ECON 271 as soon as possible after ECON 170 -- in semester 4 or 5. (4) To be chosen in consultation with an IPE advisor. May not be used to meet a University core requirement. (5) Students are encouraged to delay taking IPE 301 until they are ready to choose a thesis topic. They should then take 401 as soon as possible after 301 so that work done in 301 can continue in 401 (6) Of the three units of upper division coursework required outside the first major, the Connections course will count for one unless it is used to meet a major requirement.
