Dees Not to be confused for the El Pacifico in California, this small Mexican restaurant, located in Sylva, North Carolina, is the perfect place to go and hang out with friends on the weekend and enjoy a large, spicy meal. It features cushioned seats in a booth fashion that wrap around the walls of the restaurant and excellent service that does not keep you waiting. In this, I will describe the aspects of my experience and the value in this restaurant. As I first entered the restaurant, I was expecting a Mexican style atmosphere but all I heard the whole time was Justin Bieber and Niki Minaj on the radio. In addition, the décor reminded me more of a local café than it did a Mexican restaurant. When I finally sat in the booth with my friends, I noticed a huge hole in the leather of the seat. At this point I was utterly confused of what I was doing there. Once we received the menu, we were treated to chips and salsa. Looking down the menu all of the foods were on par with the theme of the restaurant. They had a huge selection of enchiladas, fish, burritos and an assortment of wraps. Most of the food descriptions started with “In this traditional Mexican dish…” and almost everything came with a side of beans, rice, or guacamole. The waitress was very nice and helped me pronounce some of the dishes on the menu. After I completely slaughtered the pronunciation, I ordered the Enchilada Verde. My order arrived at the table approximately 15 minutes after I ordered. So, it is definitely not a fast food restaurant but the wait time isn’t outrageous either. I was almost appalled at the price of the dish (at $10.49) until I was served and received a behemoth of a plate; I almost felt challenged. The dish I ordered had two enchiladas on it, with sausage in the center, rice and salad to mix in with the two. There was also a red sauce on the side; it was too spicy to continue eating with my food. The enchiladas were cooked with what looked like steak sauce and it gave it a charred taste. Thankfully, that was what I was wanting at the time but it did catch me off guard when first seeing the plate. The rice was amazing, especially when mixed with the salad. This was the best part of the dish in my opinion. My overall consensus of the restaurant is that it does a horrible job of portraying the Mexican theme it is supposed to be expressing. The décor and atmosphere set was unrelated to the Mexican theme they were trying to represent but it was an overall good experience and it kept my friends entertained. The food was very good and definitely worth the amount I paid. So if you love a fun environment filled with Justin Bieber, Niki Minaj and Mexican food, then this place is the perfect spot for you. I enjoyed the experience enough to go back again and I cannot rave enough about the awesome customer service.
