2014 ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT CEREMONY SCHOOL OF SOCIAL SCIENCE AND HUMAN SERVICES The HERBERT WORTREICH award goes to ALEXA MARQUES. On Dean's List for all semesters, Alexa is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Golden Key International Honour Society, and Who's Who Among American Colleges and Universities. She was Vice President of 1STEP (Students Together for Environmental Progress), Student Coordinator of Sustainable Living Facilities, as well as Project Manager of Environmental Assessment (Senior Capstone) which produced an Environmental Impact Statement for the class' clients. Alexa received the Kurt and Anny Landsberger award for Environmental Studies, the JDK Scholarship for transfer students, and the PSE&G Scholarship for Environmental Studies. She has also completed 84 professional development hours from the Cloud Institute for Sustainability Education with distinction. Alexa was an Environmental Education Intern at the Meadowlands Environment Center and an Avian Ecology Intern at Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park. She also participated in the International Women's Earth and Climate Summit March on Washington against the KXL Pipeline. Alexa would like to pursue a career in Environmental Education or Avian Ecology and to continue her education with a masters in avian or urban ecology with a focus on educating others.
