2014 ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT CEREMONY SALAMENO SCHOOL OF HUMANITIES AND GLOBAL STUDIES The outstanding student in AMERICAN STUDIES goes to EMILY MOORE. Emily’s Honors Society memberships are numerous: Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor Society, Secretary; Phi Beta Delta International Scholars Honor Society, President; Phi Alpha Theta International History Honor Society (where she presented her independent study paper at the 2014 National Convention); Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society for Education. She also was the president for the American Studies Club, Ramapo Admissions Student Ambassador Advisory Board, and fundraising chair for Relay for Life. Emily spent the fall 2012 semester in Hilo, Hawaii as part of the National Student Exchange Program. She also spent Alternative Spring Break 2013 in the Dominican Republic. A peer facilitator, Emily is also a Global Roadrunner who assists and mentors in the Study Abroad office. She has done a co-op in the Ramapo Admissions Office, RASA Intern in charge of interviewing, training and evaluating new tour guides, and interviewing Early Decision applicants. A Presidential Scholarship recipient, Emily has also received leadership awards including a Foundation scholarship. Emily’s biggest interest is travel, having backpacked Australia, New Zealand and Western Europe. She also traveled through the Hawaiian islands while studying on the Big Island of Hawaii. Emily is hopes to one day be a high school history teacher or to teach English abroad. Over the next few years, she plans to continue focusing on her passion for travel.
