Professional Staff Association By-Laws

The Professional Staff Association (PSA) is the governance organization for professional staff. It is the organization through which we share our common interests as professionals to support and enhance the central academic mission of the institution. Through the
PSA, we support institutional quality and organizational cohesion.
The PSA is a governance/advocacy group designed as a forum to share information about the institution, support our interests as professional administrators, and discuss trends in higher education as well as new techniques, policies, and procedures as they affect our work.
Membership Members are those professional staff whose job titles require a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or its equivalent. Membership shall not include
President, Provost, and Vice President(s), Associate and Assistant Vice Presidents/Provosts, Deans and those who hold faculty rank.
Executive Board The Executive Board of the PSA is comprised of: The
President, Vice President, Communications Manager and
Past President who meet with the President of the college regularly to discuss PSA concerns.
Duties of Board Officers
President 1) Chairs the Executive Board.
2) Convenes monthly Membership meetings
2) Attends meetings of the Board of Trustees or assigns designee.
3) Creates ad hoc committees as needed.
Vice-president 1) Prepares programming and agenda for membership meetings.
2) Invites speakers for monthly meetings.
3) Convenes Executive Board meetings in president’s absence.

4) Convenes monthly membership meetings in president’s absence.
5) Manages web content
Communications Manager 1) Manages the membership (e-mail) list.
2) Sends out correspondence to membership.
3) Takes meeting minutes and distributes to membership.
Past President 1) Serves as historian and manages archives
2) Serves as peer for other PSA members in personnel issues or works with staff member to appoint one.
Election of Officers Nominations for Board officers will be solicited in
May one month prior to the June election.
Board officers are elected for a two-year renewable term, not to exceed 4 years, by a majority vote of the membership at the June meeting. The members of the Executive Board will vote to elect the positions of: President, Vice President, and Communications
Manager. (If any officer resigns after regularly held election, a new officer will be elected or appointed at the discretion of the President at the next regularly scheduled PSA meeting.)
Meetings The Association will meet regularly throughout the academic year to determine the Association's activities and programs for the upcoming year; to elect Board officers; to review membership list, and to review the past year's activities.
Board of Trustee
Committees The Executive Board will appoint a PSA representative to serve as a liaison to each Board of
Trustee standing committee. Duties will include attending meetings and providing a written report afterwards to keep membership informed.
Amendments Amendments to the Association's By-Laws must be presented in writing to the membership one month prior to a regularly scheduled meeting. Amendments may be made by a majority vote of the members present at any regularly scheduled meeting.
