ATHLETIC DIRECTOR:

JD Wheeler Athletic Office (810) 626-2300 jdwheeler@hartlandschools.us

(1) Athletes must abide by the "RULES FOR INTERSCHOLASTIC ATHLETES" as published in the student handbook.

(2) Athletes shall act in a manner that demonstrates respect for coaches, other athletes, officials and spectators.

(3) If you must be absent from a practice or competition, contact your coach

BEFORE the absence. Messages can be left on our cell phones or given to

Coach Kartsounes personally in school.

(4) Any unexcused absences from school or from practice will result in the loss of playing time. Excused absences from practices may result in loss of playing time. As per the student handbook, any non-school related absence from school will result in a suspension from that day’s practice or game unless pre-excused.

(5) All players are to be present at home games at least 45 minutes prior to the game, and must be ready to warm–up for all home games at least 30 minutes prior to the game.

(6) Team members will stay at the game site unless the coach grants permission to leave.

BUS RULES:

(1) Any improper behavior on the buses will result in the loss of playing time. Using the buses is a privilege, not a right, and should be treated accordingly.

(2) All Varsity team members will ride the bus to and from all away games unless previous written arrangement has been made with your coach and the athletic department.

(3) All JV team members will ride the bus to all away games unless previous written arrangement has been made with your coach and the athletic department.

Players may either take the bus home or they will be released to their parents.

VARSITY LETTERS:

A Varsity Letter will be awarded to any player who successfully completes the season and has played in at least two varsity level regular season games.

EQUIPMENT NEEDS:

To help prevent injuries and increase performance all players must wear a soccer shoe designed for outdoor use. All players are required to have shinguards with an NOCSAE stamp that are appropriate for your height. Please see the Boys

Soccer website for more information. Both of these pieces of equipment as well as running shoes and drinking water must be brought to all practices and contests.

UNIFORMS:

In order to promote team identity, unity, and attendance at our matches all players will be required to wear either their jerseys or shirt and tie on match days.

Failure to comply will result in loss of playing time and/or starting privileges.

It is expected that all uniforms and warm-ups issued will be returned promptly at the conclusion of the season in the same condition as they were issued. Any loss of or damage to uniforms will result in a fine commensurate with the replacement or repair cost.

All players must purchase two pairs of socks for $20. Checks, separate from the participation fee, should be made out to Hartland Soccer and given to your team representative. If the purchase of socks or other equipment presents any problem, please see your coach or the athletic director.

SCHEDULES, BUS TIMES & GAME SITES:

A complete schedule with Bus Times and links to game sites for all away games can be found on the Schedule page of the Boys Soccer website. It is important to check this schedule for game sites because some schools play at fields that are not located at their high schools.

FEES:

Athletic Participation Fee

All JV and Varsity soccer players will need to pay an Athletic Participation Fee of

$175. By Athlete Department rules, the Athletic Participation Fee must be paid before the first scheduled game (Monday, August 25 th

).

NOTES:

1. The athletic office would like you to pay online at payforit.net

Since this is the same site used to pay for HHS registration costs, you can simply use the account already created for HHS registration, or if you have not registered yet you can create a new account.

2. Partial or full scholarships may be available to students with financial hardships.

Families with this concern or those who may need a payment plan should fill out the Scholarship / Payment Plan Request Form that can be found on the

Forms & Fees page of the Boys Soccer website.

All information received will be kept confidential.

Payment of the Athletic Participation Fee does not guarantee playing time for the athlete. It does make the athlete a member of the team.

Sock Fee

Additionally, team socks this year will be $20 total for both pairs. Payment by cash or check separate from the Athletic Participation Fee and made payable to

Hartland Soccer should be made to your team representative as soon as possible.
