Study Guide for the Final Exam
Instructions for Part I: 5 questions with 30 total points. Be neat and give complete
answers. On Part I, you are not allowed to use anything other than your writing instrument
and the tables.

– properties of pdf for continuous rv’s
– formulas for E(X) and Var(X)
– mutually exclusive and independent events
– properties of linear functions of rv’s
– probability properties
– how to solve easy computational problems involving the B(n,p) and N(¹; ¾)
Instructions for Part II. 6 questions worth a total of 70 points. .Be neat and give complete
answers. On Part II, you are allowed to use a sheet of formulas, a clean sheet in minitab,
a clean sheet in maple, a calculator, and the tables. You are not permitted to use anything
else on your harddrive.
