General Guidelines
The competition is limited to students in grades 9
through 12.
The festival is split between two days: Thursday,
April 7 for music competitions within the Music
Division and Friday, April 8 for all other events.
School Classifications:
Division AA Schools: 1-69 registered students
(includes homeschool programs)
Division AAA Schools: 70+ registered students
points during the festival. First, second
and third place winners will be announced
for each event. There are 86 competitive events.
First-place winners will earn five points for their
school. Second-place winners will earn three points
for their school, and third-place winners will earn
one point for their school.
Each first-place winner will receive a festival medallion, and all second- and third-place winners will
receive certificates. Medallions will be awarded the
day of the festival. Certificates will be mailed to the
schools at a later date.

About the Festival

Roane State Community College’s Academic Festival
is held annually in either March or April on the Roane
County Campus located in Harriman, Tennessee.
The first festival held in 1978 to promote the arts
and sciences was attended by 200 students from 5
high schools. Today, the festival is attended by over
2,000 high school students from 13 counties.
