On behalf of the Big South Fork P-16 Council, I wish to commend you and your
organization for the progressive and supportive efforts you have taken in encouraging
students to “stay in school”. The brochures that are available at your check-out are truly
wonderful evidence of your emphasis on the importance of education and we
congratulate you and Dollar General on your proactive stance.
The P-16 Councils across the state are a part of a state-wide initiative to foster and
facilitate a conversation and coordinated effort among various constituencies representing
local education, political, and business interests to improve and enhance the education of
our citizens. The theme both this year and the next for our council has been “Staying in
School”, and we are so excited to see your company leading the way in emphasizing just
that. I would like to extend an invitation for you or a representative of your store to
become a member of our Council and attend our next meeting which will be in early fall
on our campus. We would like to be able to add you to our email distribution list so that
we can keep you informed and involved in our work.
