Ace’s New Computer
Today was Ace’s birthday! For his
birthday, he got a new blue laptop.
Ace was so excited. He couldn’t
wait to play on it!

He also got a new game for his
computer, too! As soon as he got it,
he ran into his room and turned it
on. He played and played for 3
whole hours, until it was dinnertime.

He was ravenous at the dinner
table. He was trying to hurry and get
through eating so he could go play
his new game some more!

“Slow down! You’re going to get
sick!” said Ace’s mom. Ace listened
and slowed down, but still ate fast.

When Ace was done, he left the
table without asking and ran back
into his room. His mother was mad,
but didn’t try to stop him since it was
his birthday.

He played until it was almost
midnight on his new computer, until
his mother came in.

“Ace, what are you doing up! I
know you love your gift but it is time
to go to bed! Now, get some sleep!”
said his mom. “Yes, Ma'am,” said
Ace in a very sad tone.

The next morning Ace got up and
went to school. But as soon as he
got home, instead of doing his
homework, he played on his
computer.

When Ace’s mother got home, she
made Ace get off the computer and
do all of his homework. Ace
complained, but his mother said
schoolwork always comes first.

When Ace was through with his
homework, it was already
dinnertime. Ace ate slowly this time,
though. But as soon as he was
done, he ran to his room without
asking, again.

“I wish that boy could put that
computer down for a little while!”
said Ace’s mom to Ace’s dad.
“He’ll be fine,” said Ace’s dad.

Ace did the same thing again that
night! He played on the computer till
3:00, until his mother came in and
took it away from him.

"You’ll get this back whenever you
learn to be more responsible,” said
his mom. “But, Mom, that isn’t fair!”
said Ace. “You have to be more
responsible, Ace! Now get some
sleep!” said Ace’s mom.

The next morning Ace awoke. He
made his bed and picked up his
toys. He took care of his baby
brother while his mom cooked. He
came home and did his homework
right after school.

He started acting more responsibly
every day. Ace even started making
straight A’s on his tests! His mother
was very impressed.

Three weeks later, she gave Ace
back his computer and even bought
Ace a brand new game!

Ace was so exited, but he waited
until his mother said he could play it.
He also had to be excused from the
dinner table, and he had to go to
bed early.

Ace got better and better at being
responsible and mature.
Ace and his family were very proud!
