EDNL 333: Apprentice Field Experience III (1)
Course Description:
Corequisites: EDN 325, 334, 336, 348, and 414. Designed to provide supervised
extended experiences in public elementary school classrooms. Students will
complete field experience requirements of corequisites and will plan and teach
integrated units. Field placement will require release from all methods courses for
two intensive weeks in school.
Conceptual Framework:

Objectives: Upon successfully completing this course, the student should be
able to:
1. Interact collaboratively and cooperatively with peers, classroom mentor
teachers, university supervisors, school personnel, administrators,

2. Understand and effectively participate in the development and
maintenance of a democratic classroom community. . (ACEI 1, 3.4;

3. Demonstrate a positive attitude and conduct oneself in a professional and
ethical manner befitting a developing professional educator. (ACEI 5.1;

4. Further develop the ability to effectively communicate professionally

5. Develop a commitment to the learning of all the children in the classroom
and the school and strive to recognize, appreciate, and accommodate the

6. Analyze and develop appropriate and effective classroom organization

Study, curricular organization, and instructional programs and materials.

8. Analyze, adapt, and employ resources for instruction and assessment.

9. Develop and teach an integrated unit to the whole class. (ACEI 2.8, 3.3 &

10. Make connections between integrated unit concepts and the children’s

11. Further develop the ability to reflectively think about the complexities of
the elementary teacher's roles and responsibilities and the complexities of
the elementary classroom. (ACEI 5.2; NCPTS V)
12. Become an effective advocate for public education. (ACEI 5.4; NCPTS

Attendance:
Attendance is important to your growth in this class. You will be required to be on
time at your designated school and must inform the teacher and your instructor if
an absence is necessary.
Suggested Assignments:
1. Complete field experience requirements as assigned in your corequisite
methods courses.
2. Will plan and teach an integrated unit.
3. Video tape lessons and reflect.
4. Attendance and class participation.
Grading Method:
Pass/Fail.
