1. This is not a complete study guide. I will discuss the equations you
need to know for exam after break. Also be aware that I make mistakes
so there maybe one or two errors in the practice exam.
2. Do the following problems.
(a) The percentage of all bachelor's degrees awarded to men dropped
from 56 percent in 1972 to 42 percent in 2000. Find the relative
change.
(b) (Time, March 27, 2006) " 54902 - Number of licensed gun dealers in the U.S. in 2005, down 78 percent from 1994." How many
licensed gun dealers were in the U.S. in 1994?
(c) Mary's scored 50 percent higher on the SAT than John what is
the ratio of Johns score compared to Mary's?
(d) The cost of feeding and elephant for one month is 500 a month
while the cost of feeding a puppy is 25 a month. Find the absolute
and relative dierence in cost (for the relative dierence how much
more does it cost to feed the elephant?).
