Prerequisites: “C” or better in MATH 1210 OR MATH 1250 OR MATH 1270 OR AP
Calculus AB score of at least 4 OR AP Calculus BC score of at least 3.
Required Textbook: Calculus with Differential Equations (Ninth Edition). Authors:
Varberg, Purcell, and Rigdon
Course Description: Geometric applications of the integral, logarithmic, and exponential
functions, techniques of integration, conic sections, improper integrals, numerical
approximation techniques, infinite series, power series expansions, and differential
equations.
Homework: Homework assignments will be assigned and submitted via Webwork. You
can sign into Webwork via the following URL:

Exams: If a student has a conflict with the time of exam administrations due to
University sponsored events then it is the student’s responsibility to contact me one week
in advance to inform me of the conflict and to schedule a makeup for the exam. Under
emergency circumstances (i.e. hospitalization or death in the family) the student must
provide me with verification of the event in order to re-take the examination. Without
proper verification the student will not be allowed to makeup the exam. Exams for this
course will be given on the following dates:
• First Exam: Friday, February 3. Room: JWB 335. Time: Regular class time.
• Second Exam: Friday, March 9. Room: JWB 335. Time: Regular class time.
• Third Exam: Friday April 13. Room: JWB 335. Time: Regular class time.
• Final Exam: Thursday, May 3. Room: JWB 335. Time: 10:30AM-12:30PM.
Caution: All students, regardless of course performance, must take the final exam. If a
student does not take the final exam then the student will receive a failing grade for the
course, no exceptions!

Grading: There will be three midterms, a comprehensive final exam, and weekly
homework assignments. Midterms will count for 35%, the final exam will count for 30%,
and the homework assignments will count for 35% of your grade. Grades will be based on
the following scale:
A (93-100), A- (90-92), B+ (87-89), B (83-86), B- (80-82), C+ (77-79),
C (73-76), C- (70-72), D+ (67-69), D (63-66), D- (60-62), E (0-59).
Cheating Policy: My cheating policy is extremely simple, ”You cheat, you fail!” No
exceptions!
Tutoring Center: The T. Benny Rushings Mathematics Tutoring Center is located in the
basement between buildings JWB and LCB. The tutoring center also has a computer lab
with free mathematics and physics printing resources. Tutoring is free and based on a ”first
come first serve” basis. Lower-level courses are given precedence, however, even during
busy times, one’s question will usually be addressed in a short amount of time.
