Clark Building Hosted by the College of Juvenile Justice & Psychology Texas Juvenile Crime Prevention Center The annual R oyce West Forum and Lecture Series is designed to increase the knowledge and skills of our students in psychology and criminal/juvenile justice, and provide juvenile justice and social ser vice practitioners with information concerning the reduction of juvenile delinquency and crime and related social problems. This year’s program will feature Dr. Alejandro (Alex) del Carmen, Professor and Executive Director of the School of Criminology, Criminal Justice and Strategic Studies at Tarleton State University and Region Two Commander Philip “Duane” Steen of the Texas Department of Public Safety from Houston, Texas. Dr. del Car men is considered an authority on the topic of race and crime with particular emphasis on racial profiling in law enforcement and has published a nationally recognized book titled “Racial Profiling in America” by Prentice Hall. Commander Steen started with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) in 1981. In October of 2009, Commander Steen was promoted to Major, Criminal Investigations Division, in Austin and in Februar y 2010 he was promoted to Deputy Assistant Director, CID. On September 12, 2011, Commander Steen was promoted to Region 2 Commander (Houston).
