Banking interest rates on new loans and
deposits

Banco de Portugal publishes today in table A.10 of
the Statistical Bulletin and in BPstat, data on bank-

Interest rates on new loans
The new loans granted to non-financial corporations in February registered an average interest
rate of 3.45%, 14 basis point (b.p.) lower than the
previous month (Chart 1).
With regard to new loans to households (housing)
(Chart 2), the average interest rate was 2.06%
(2.05% in January). The average interest rate for
In February 2016, the average interest rate on new
deposits reached new historic lows. In the case of
non-financial corporations, the average was 0.18%,
representing a decrease of 13 b.p. compared to
the previous month (Chart 3). In the new operations of deposits of households, the average interest rate stood at 0.43%, down 6 b.p. than in January
(Chart 4).
