Project Summary
Nursing 401 will include a service-learning assignment in which students develop puppet shows
addressing healthy lifestyles for pre-K students at Head Start of Wilmington.
The Certified Internship Program will enhance students’ knowledge and classroom experiences
through internships.
Education 414 students will learn how to integrate authentic art experiences in the school curriculum
(Ogden Elementary) and how to facilitate elementary school students’ learning through arts
integration.
The technology consultation project will allow students to assist in technological support or
enhancement for a campus organization.
Conducting qualitative and quantitative research, students will develop an evaluation plan for a
public health organization.
Professional writing students will be assessing and evaluating the marketing materials, website and
menu for a local business (restaurant).
Marine Plastic Debris Group DIS students will collect and analyze plastics from local beaches to
evaluate their environmental impact.
Undergraduate DIS students will design, develop and implement a pilot study to test students for two
types of sexually transmitted infections.
Students will be exposed to the field of Environmental Endocrinology via experimentation with two
marine model organisms that are native to North Carolina.
HIST580 Topics in Public History (Historic House Museums) students will travel to the historic house
museums of Charleston and Savannah.
A one-credit course in which students will visit the sites and monuments of the first European
settlements in the United States.
Creative Writing: The Adventure Narrative will feature two out-of-the-classroom learning experiences
and involve collaboration between Creative Writing faculty, staff at the Center for Marine Science
(Hope Sutton), and faculty in Biology and Marine Biology (David Webster).
General Petrology and Structural Geology students will be introduced to state-of-the-art geological
field mapping techniques using the iPad tablet interface.
Students will use The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo to study the various aspects of serial murder,
violence against women, and organized crime.
Supporting the development of a new elective course, Mindfulness in Social Work.
