DEGREE REQUIREMENTS
Course requirements for all UNCW degrees include: (1) University Studies, (2) specific major requirements, and (3)
sufficient elective hours for a combined total of a minimum of 124 hours.

Intermediate German I (3) Prerequisite: GER 102 or equivalent
Intermediate German II (3) Prerequisite: GER 201 or equivalent
Text and Context (3) Prerequisite: GER 301 or equivalent
(Meets Computer Competency and Oral Communication Competency Requirements)
Choose 27 credit hours at the 300-400 level, of which at least six hours must be at the 400-level.
No more than six hours may be obtained by means of a German Studies course taught in
English. Only three of the hours at the 400-level may be obtained by means of GER 491 or 498.
NOTE: To satisfy the Applied Learning Requirement, a student must complete 6 credit hours of study abroad (at the
intermediate level or above) or 3 credit hours of internship, directed individual study, practicum, honors, or service
learning.
A “C-” or better grade is required in each course counted toward the major and a “C” (2.00) or better average for all
courses counted toward the major. All majors must complete a series of German proficiency exams in order to graduate.
