Choose 3 hours from the following: CHM 415, 417, 425, 466, 467, 485, 486, 491**, 499**
(**If 491 or 499 is used, student must take a total of 3 hrs in 491 and may count only 3 of the 6 credit hrs
taken as 499 for credit toward the major. A comprehensive written report and an oral presentation are
required.)
\
An overall GPA of “C” (2.00) is required in all chemistry courses counted toward the major.
NOTE: For Secondary Teacher Licensure in General Science and Chemistry, an additional BIO course, PHY 260, and two courses
from GLY 101, 120 and 150 are required.
NOTE: To satisfy the Applied Learning Requirement, a student must successfully complete at least one hour of CHM 491, 498,
499 or CHML 495.
NOTE: Students interested in the accelerated Masters degree option (i.e. Bachelors of Science and a Masters of Science in as little as
5 years) must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher in all chemistry courses taken by the middle of the junior year of the B.S. curriculum.
1
Students should arrange their work to take CHM 321 and 420 in the junior year.
Students interested in either the BS or MS degree programs in CHM are encouraged to begin with MAT 161. Initial placement is
based on high school background and the MAT Placement Test. Students not prepared for MAT 161 should begin with MAT 115 or
111-112, as appropriate.
*These courses require a lab
+May also be used to satisfy University Studies requirements
