sufficient elective hours for a combined total of a minimum of 124 hours.

NOTE: To satisfy the Writing Requirement, a student must successfully complete one of the following courses: FST 317,
363, 367, 368, 440, 445, 480, 496, ENG 317, or another course designated by the department as “writing intensive.” To
satisfy the Applied Learning Requirement, a student must successfully complete one of the following courses: FST 301,
302, 363, 451, 493, 495 or 498.
To satisfy the Oral Communication Requirement, a student must successfully complete FST 495 or FST 496.
No course may satisfy more than one requirement or elective within the major.
The major consists of 45 hours, at least 24 of which must be at the 300 or 400-level.
All requirements for the major must be completed with an overall 2.00 GPA or better.

Requirements to declare PRE-FST: Students must first declare a Pre-FST major to enable them to enroll in FST 200.
Requirements to declare FST: Students who earn a “B+” or better in FST 200 will be admitted automatically to the FST major.
Applicants who earn a “B” or below in FST 200 must compete for a limited number of seats in the FST major by submitting an
application. For purposes of admission to the FST major, the department only credits students’ first registered grade in FST 200; the
department will not credit grades earned upon repeating the course.
