Graduate Assistantships: CROSSROADS: UNCW Substance Abuse Prevention & Education Program The CROSSROADS department in the Division of Student Affairs is hiring four (two 5-hour, and two 10-hour) graduate assistants for the 2016-2017 academic year. Position #1- Conduct Interventions (Individual Meetings & Class Facilitation - 10 hours) The responsibilities of this graduate assistant are: Individual Interventions. The graduate assistants will be responsible for several one-on-one services provided by the office. These include educational interventions for students who are found responsible for marijuana violations, individual feedback sessions with students found responsible for alcohol violations, and feedback and support of community members who want to stop using tobacco products. The graduate assistants are responsible for attending a mandatory group supervision meeting once a week during the course of their assistantship, as well as attending individual supervision with the Crossroads Case Manager every other week. Both hours of supervision will occur within the weekly work hour limit. Graduate assistants are responsible for attending mandatory trainings during the summer prior to the start of the Fall Semester, and throughout their assistantship, to include: Motivational Interviewing Training Brief Alcohol Assessment Screening and Intervention for College Students (BASICS) Challenging Decisions (CD) Class Training Additional Training as Needed/Assigned Position #2- Conduct Interventions (Individual Meetings Only - 10 hours) The responsibilities of this graduate assistant are: Individual Interventions. The graduate assistant will co-lead the classes for students who are part of the campus conduct system. This educational intervention for students is a small group class that focuses on motivation enhancement, harm reduction techniques, and personalized feedback. The graduate assistants are responsible for attending a mandatory group supervision meeting once a week during the course of their assistantship, as well as attending individual supervision with the Crossroads Case Manager every other week. Both hours of supervision will occur within the weekly work hour limit.
