Please be sure to do the following as you apply for a graduate assistantship:
• Include in your personal statement at least one paragraph which addresses (1) why you applied for a graduate teaching assistantship and (2) why you are qualified to teach Communication 101
(Introduction to Public Speaking).
• Have your references address specifically your ability to be a successful teacher (this may be a separate letter or included in the letter of reference written for your admission into the Division’s
Graduate Program).
