Courses Offered - by Semester
Important – Most courses in the UNCW catalogue are only offered one semester per
academic year. Use the instructions below when selecting your courses:
To find course information for the upcoming semester, go to SeaNet
(https://seanet.uncw.edu/), select "Detailed Class Schedule", and then choose the
upcoming term. Choose the subject you are searching for in the “Subject:” box. Then
scroll to the bottom of the screen and click ‘Class Search.’
Course Selection Procedure
After you have submitted your supporting documents, you will be sent a link and
password to the Pre-Registration Assistance form. Your international student adviser
will use your course requests to register you for courses.
Course Load per Semester
Students must take between 12 – 18 UNCW credits per semester.
(1 lecture credit = 750 minutes of face to face instruction per semester)
(1 laboratory credit = 1500 minutes of face to face instruction per semester)

Once admitted, students will be mailed an acceptance letter along with J1 exchange
student immigration document DS-2019. Using the two documents, students will need
to complete the following:
Obtaining U.S. student visa

Pay the J1 SEVIS Fee,

Complete online visa application DS-160

Locate your nearest U.S. Embassy, Follow the embassy’s website instructions
for obtaining a non-Immigrant J1 Exchange Student Visa

Estimate the wait time by selecting your Embassy location on the U.S. Visa

On-Campus
Students are eligible to register for on-campus housing after they have been admitted
to UNCW. Space on campus is limited, so students will be placed in the few remaining
open spaces. All rooms will be double-occupancy (with a roommate).
Accommodation
Students will be emailed instructions for applying for on-campus housing after they are
admitted.
Off-Campus
Exchange students are allowed to live off-campus, but the International Programs
Office cannot help you make those arrangements. Student may use the UNCW OffCampus Housing Service to help locate an apartment.

Procedure
Yes - Student volunteers offer airport pick-up for the two days before International
Student Orientation.
The local airport is ILM, student volunteers can only provide airport pick-up from the
ILM airport.


