GENERAL INFORMATION
1. Is the host institution a direct partner of UNCW, an institution available to OIP through a program
provider, or both?
2. Please explain how the program continues to (a) reflect the mission of UNCW, (b) meet the objectives
of OIP and/or the sponsoring department/unit, and (c) offer a unique opportunity to UNCW students.
3. Other general comments:
ACADEMIC ENVIRONMENT AND PROGRAM
1. What is the student population on the program? At the host institution? In the community?
2. What is the percentage of international students? What is the makeup of those students (e.g. Asians,
Europeans, etc.)?
3. Through which organizations is the host institution accredited? (e.g. Is Engineering ABET certified? Is
the school recognized by the ministry of education in that country?)
4. Approximately how many courses are available to international students each semester? In what
disciplines?
5. What is the language of instruction?
6. If English is not the language of instruction, what is the language requirement? Do students take an
entrance exam or placement test when they arrive to determine if they can take regular university
courses?
7. How many courses are taught in English? Enough for a full load of classes?
8. If there are courses taught in English, are they part of a special program for international students?
9. Are beginning language courses available? Is it a pre-semester program or built into the program?
10. Is there an additional cost for these language courses? If so, how much?
11. Are there any restrictions on courses students can take? If so, please describe.
12. Are students given instruction on-site about appropriate course selection?
13. How is student performance evaluated (tests, papers, presentations, etc.)?
14. What is faculty to student ratio?
15. How much contact do the faculty have with students outside the classroom?
16. Describe the library facilities. Are the resources adequate for the program? Do students have access to
other libraries, either at other universities in the area or in the city?
17. Are students required to purchase textbooks and/or other course materials?
18. Comment on the computing facilities. Do students have access to computers and e-mail? Is there any
additional charge associated with access to email accounts and/or computing facilities?

1. Is there an on-site orientation provided? Provide a brief description.
2. Who is the students' primary on-site contact? (name, title, address, telephone, fax, email)
3. What is the role of this person on campus?
4. What kind of contact do U.S. students have with students from the host country?
5. What field trips and other organized activities do students have access to while attending the
institution? (including clubs and other campus organizations)
6. Does the host institution provide housing? If yes, what kind of housing is available?
7. Generally speaking, where is the housing located? How much does it cost?
8. Is it convenient to public transportation if it is not within walking distance (30 minutes) of the institution?
9. Are housing services provided for students accompanied by spouses or partners and/or children?

11. Are there cafeterias on campus?
12. Are the buildings in which the students are housed equipped with fire detection, alarms, and/or fire
escapes?
13. If housing is not provided, docs the university assist with off-campus housing arrangements?
14. If no housing assistance is provided, how far in advance should students anticipate arriving to look for
accommodations?
15. Do the campus and student housing provide accommodations for students with disabilities? If so,
specify those disabilities (in general) which can be accommodated.

SAFETY AND SECURITY INFORMATION
Please comment on the overall safety and security situation at this program location. What services are
offered to ensure the safety and security of participants? How are students made aware of any
safety/security concerns unique to the area? Do you feel that students will be safe in this location?
CLASSROOM VISITATIONS
Please report if you attended any classes while you were visiting the institution. Where possible, give the
course name, number of students in the class, professor name and any other appropriate comments. If the
course is conducted in a foreign language, please indicate the level of the course and how much
preparation you have had in that language.
SOCIAL AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
If you had time to explore the city where the institution is located, please comment on the following
questions related to the social and cultural activities available to students.
1. What kind of cultural events are available in the city where you visited?
2. Did you find the cultural activities of the city affordable and easily accessible? Do you think students
would have a difficult time getting access to these activities and events (i.e., too expensive, too far to
travel, etc.)?
3. What (if any) arrangements were made to enable you to participate in any social or cultural events while
you were visiting? Please describe.
