Program Overview
Students will be immersed in vibrant Cuban culture as we explore
what it means to be a global citizen. Students will broaden their
understanding of Cuba through their participation in academic
visits, cultural activities and excursions. Living with host families,
students will experience aspects of Cuban lifestyle that are
inaccessible to most visitors.
Academics
Students must enroll in HON121-304 (CRN 26068, 1 credit).
Students will examine political, economic, historic, and cultural
topics with local scholars and experts. Visits to the Universidad de
las Artes, Universidad de la Habana, and the Literacy Museum are
included.

Program Activities and Features
Along with classroom learning, cultural activities and excursions
are included in the cost of the program. Students will take a
cooking class, participate in a rumba dance class, enjoy a baseball
game, and visit a tobacco and sugar cane plantation in addition
to tours within Havana. We will also take a day trip to Viñales and
Pinar del Rio.

Estimated Program Fee:
$2,715
Location
Havana (population 2.1 million), the capital and largest city in Cuba, sits
in the northwest part of the country on the Gulf of Mexico. Havana is
visually and culturally beautiful, retaining an interesting mix of Baroque
and neoclassical monuments. The Pinar del Rio province is Cuba’s
western most province and contains the Viñales Valley, a UNESCO World
Heritage site.
Program Fee Includes:
• Roundtrip airfare from Miami to Havana
• 5 nights accommodations in homestays
in Havana

Financial Aid & Scholarships
Federal and state financial aid may be
applied toward this program. Even if you
are normally ineligible for financial aid, you

for additional funding.
