Objectives
Planners administer a comprehensive system of controls on land use planning. The aims of this
programme are:

to provide students with the theoretical and practical knowledge, understanding and skills
required for sustainable land use planning
to provide a supporting environment in which students are able to fulfil their educational
potential as well as enhance their employment prospects within and beyond the planning
profession
Programme Requirements
Applicant must have been awarded the Diploma in Town and Country Planning of the University
of Mauritius or have an equivalent qualification acceptable to the University of Mauritius

Assessment
All modules will carry 100 marks and will be assessed as follows (unless otherwise specified):
Assessment will be based on a written examination of 2-hour duration and on continuous
assessment carrying of 20% to 30% of total marks.
Continuous assessment will be based on fieldwork, assignments and should include at least two
(2) assignments/ tests per module.
An overall total of 40% for combined assessment and written examination components would be
required to pass the module, without minimum thresholds within the individual continuous
assessment and written examination.
