The Department of Mass Communication, Winthrop University is pleased to host Fulbright Visiting Scholar from India Dr. Triveni Goswami Mathur She will give lectures on Professionalism and media ethics in India Thursday, Nov 7, 9.30 to 10.45 a.m., Johnson 201 and Indian culture and advertising in India Friday Nov 8, 9 to 9.50 a.m., Johnson 101 Dr. Mathur is a 2013 Fulbright-Nehru Visiting Lecturer Fellow at the Mary Baldwin College, Staunton VA where she teaches courses on Contemporary India: Ethnic and Cultural Diversity & Media Perspectives, Gandhi and Peacemaking, and Indian Media Perspectives in the departments of Mass Communication, Philosophy and Asian Studies. A former journalist, she has worked as reporter with leading Indian daily newspaper The Indian Express and as staff reporter at national news agency Press Trust of India. A Ph.D. in communication & journalism from University of Pune, India, she teaches a range of courses on contemporary India and media studies. She is visiting faculty at the India Study Abroad program of the Alliance for Global Education and has served as a key resource person conducting inter-cultural communication and sensitization workshops for foreign students at the Deccan Education Society, India. All are welcome. The Outreach Lecturing Fund (OLF) allows Fulbright Visiting Scholars who are currently in the United States to travel to other higher education institutions across the country. Each year some 800 faculty and professionals from around the world receive Fulbright Scholar grants for advanced research and university lecturing. The purpose of the OLF is to allow these scholars to share their specific research interests, speak on the history and culture of their home country, exchange ideas with U.S. students, faculty and community organizations, become better acquainted with U.S. higher education, and create linkages between their home and host institutions and CIES.
