York County thanks you for recycling. Everyone needs to participate in order for the program to be successful. One person can’t save the earth, but we can all work together to make a big difference. York County Solid Waste Collection & Recycling offers many opportunities for recycling, and the 16 Collection & Recycling Centers are available for all York County residents. Staff members at each site are available to answer questions. Our goal is to make recycling easy for you. Blue recycling bags are available free of charge at each of the 16 sites for you to use. Simply put your recyclables in the bag, drop it off, and receive another free bag. With the recycle bag, you don’t have to keep materials sorted. We do that for you. Recycling has many environmental benefits. It reduces the need to build landfills, conserves natural resources, and saves energy. Recycling also has many economic benefits. Recyclables have value. The recyclables that you bring to the Collection & Recycling Center end up on the market as commodities that are bought and sold. By turning waste into valuable raw materials, recycling creates jobs, builds more competitive manufacturing industries, and adds to the economy. Thank you for doing your part. By telling your friends and family to recycle, you can help spread the word and make York County a better place. The program provides volunteers with bags, vests and recognition sign, as well as collection of filled bags from the roadway. The mission of Keep York County Beautiful is to foster and preserve natural beauty, protect the environment, prevent blight, improve public lands, prevent litter, and make York County communities a better and safer place to live through diverse programs, volunteers, educational intiatives, innovative tools and creative solutions.
